• What is a diabetic walking boot?
  A diabetic boot is a device that can help people with diabetic ulcers. People with diabetes are at risk for developing foot ulcers, or open sores on the surface of the skin. A high blood sugar level delays proper wound healing.
• What is diabetic foot?
  Foot problems are common in people with diabetes. They can happen over time when high blood sugar damages the nerves and blood vessels in the feet. The nerve damage, called diabetic neuropathy, can cause numbness, tingling, pain, or a loss of feeling in your feet.
• What is an offloading boot?
  Offloading footwear consists of therapeutic shoes designed to provide pressure redistribution for patients at-risk for diabetic foot conditions such as neuropathic ulcers, Charcot foot and infection.
• Is an Aircast the same as a walking boot?
  Walking casts (also commonly referred to as walking boots, air casts, or stabilizers) are specially designed devices that serve to immobilize certain regions of the leg—ranging from just the ankle all the way up to the foot through the calf.
• How often should I wear my Aircast?
  Wear your sock and boot any time you are on your feet. Spend about 2 to -3 hours each day with your ankle elevated above the level of your heart.
• Why should diabetics not put lotion between their toes?
  Do not put oils or creams between your toes. The extra moisture can lead to infection. Also, dont soak your feet—that can dry your skin. Calluses occur more often and build up faster on the feet of people with diabetes.
